5. How we use it, and our lawful basis
| What we do | Lawful basis |
|---|---|
| Contact businesses and their advisers about our services | Legitimate interests: promoting and growing our business |

Where we rely on legitimate interests, we have considered whether those interests are outweighed by your rights and concluded they are not. You can ask us for more detail, and you can object (see section 10).
6. Who we share it with
- Data buyers: only with the client company's approval. We normally share an anonymised company profile first, and name a company or its contacts only once it agrees.
- Professional advisers: our lawyers, accountants and insurers, where needed.
- Service providers: companies that provide our email, file storage, accounting and similar tools, under contracts that protect your information.
- Authorities: regulators, courts or others where the law requires it.
We do not sell personal information.
7. Transfers outside the UK
Some buyers and service providers are based outside the UK, including in the United States and the European Union. Where personal information is transferred, we make sure it is protected by one of the safeguards recognised under UK law, such as UK adequacy regulations (including the UK-US Data Bridge for certified organisations) or the International Data Transfer Agreement. You can ask us which safeguard applies to your information.
8. How long we keep it
| Record | How long |
|---|---|
| Contacts we have spoken to where no engagement followed | 24 months after our last contact |
| Engagement records, agreements and correspondence | 6 years after the engagement ends |
| Records of introductions to buyers | 6 years after the relevant protection period ends |
| Accounting and tax records | 6 years after the end of the financial year |
| Website logs | Up to 12 months |
We then delete the information or anonymise it. We may keep it longer if needed for a legal claim.
9. Keeping it secure
We use access controls, encryption and reputable service providers to protect personal information, and we limit access to people who need it. If a breach is likely to put you at risk, we will tell you and the ICO as the law requires.
10. Your rights
